Royal Gorge Conceptual Plan

Update, March 11th, 5pm: See the text overview of the March 8th presentation on the SLPOA website.

Royal Gorge presented an overview of their development plans (legend) last night at Ice Lakes Lodge. 950 additional residences and condos and an unknown additional number of hotel rooms are proposed as part of four separate "Camps" with the majority of the development located along to Soda Springs Road adjacent to the USFS parcel just up the street from Ice Lakes Lodge.

The project is centered around a "Conservation" theme, and includes three new chairlifts which connect the Serene Lakes area (Ski Camp) to Sugar Bowl and provide for downhill skiing along the Razorback ridge from Crowe's Nest to Lola's Lookout. They also plan to establish a land trust to protect open space along with a community center in the new Summit Station located adjacent to Van Norden meadow (part of the older Van Norden project already submitted to the county). Other elements include horseback riding, fishing camps, man-made lakes, and a commitment to bring broadband to the Summit.

Please send us your feedback on this proposal. What do you like about the plan? What are your biggest concerns? You can email us your responses, or fill out our survey.

Royal Gorge promises to update their website with a copy of the presentation and electronic versions of all the maps. They also plan to have a feedback form on their website shortly.
